New Haven: S. Babcock Wraps. A small chapbook (approx 11 cm x 7 cm - or - 4 3/8 x 2 3/4 inches) published by S. Babcock in New Haven CT. Title page notes 1849, front cover notes 1850. We've seen this in both printed blue wrappers (as in the present example) and yellow wrappers, both with the same illustration. Page 13 has a full page illustration of a "a part of ball players", and the opposite page has a paragraph about playing Ball. Generall bright and clean internally, with a few smudges but no foxing. Original string stitching, spine wearing with separation at the top and bottom of the spine. Even so a very nice example of this scarce title, most often read to death by the children it was intended for. Near Fine.
