Leipzig: Verlag Springer & Moller A. G. Lack und Farbenwerke 1930. First Edition. [8] pages + 30 Tafel (plates) as issued. Lacks the original housing portfolio. Plates measure 11 x 15 1/4 inches. The 8 text pages were originally staple bound, now separated with chipping and edge tears but no loss of text or meaning. The illustrated Plates are in near fine condition, with occasional chipping to the outer edges of the plate margins. Very Good. [13804]

This beautiful portfolio was printed by the Springer & Moller Lack und Farbenwerke ('lacquer and paint works') in Leipzig Germany. They also printed a number of other portfolios for Grohmann on different subjects.

They highlight 'Brush, squirting and stencil' techniques from the Dresden studio of painter Paul Grohmann.

"The origin of the paint and varnish combination is the paint factory Springer & Möller AG, founded in 1895, later Leipzig Lacke GmbH. In its heyday, the company exported its products all over the world. The success story began with the opening of a small shop on Bruhl. In 1899, the company's own production began in Lohmuhlgasse, and the company moved to Leutzsch due to the rapid expansion. The company's main products were chemical colored inks, synthetic resins, oil varnishes as well as printing inks and printing auxiliaries, which were mainly used in book printing and in the advertising industry." The old factory has now been converted into condominiums. (translation of rottenplace s description)
