The first volume was published in 1962 and is INSCRIBED by Smart to Louis P Booz of Perth Amboy NJ in 1964. xxiv, 182 pages, plus colored frontispiece, bound in a rather soiled beige cloth. Volume 2 was published in 1967, and was bound in a red pebbled cloth. (2 - numbered xxv and xxvi), 183-282 pages. The set was also later published in 1968 as a single volume that contains both volumes, with a combined index. Complete Title: The Makers of Surveying Instruments Since 1700. There is a reprint of this title, but we prefer this original edition given the number of photographs of instruments in the text which are very useful when comparing to other instruments and tend to lose some detail when reproduced.
