Photographic Views of Picturesque Evanston, State of Illinois.
Chicago: Hesler's Photo Art Gallery 1887. [102] leaves including plates. Bound in green buckram (presumably original wrappers not bound in). Oblong 11 1/2 x 9 1/4 inches. Stamp of Garrett Biblical Institute on rear of title page (no longer exists having been subsumed into the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary). Very Good. Cloth. [23566]
Approximately 50 photomechanical images, each with a separate sheet identifying the view. We believe this may be a later state of this book than the example at Northwestern. The home illustrated is the same, but the owner name is noted differently and on a slightly different paper stock. Scarce, with only 3 copies in OCLC/Worldcat (Chicago Historical Museum, Evanston Public, and Univ of Denver). Another copy exists in the Northwestern archives and has been digitized (theirs almost complete, missing 2 leaves apparently).
A great pictorial view into this midwestern town of 12,000 in 1886/7.
