State of New York Report of the Topographical Survey of the Adirondack Wilderness of New York for the Year 1873

Albany, New York: Weed, Parsons and Company 1874. First Edition. 306 pages plus plates. 8vo. Publisher's original green cloth with copper gilt spine lettering. Binding is solid, noting erasure mark to top of front board, a bit of wear at the corners, and previous owner names internally (front pastedown endpaper). Previous owner was a smoker. The 20 plates include a frontispiece of the Station Crown Point Light House, Automatic Signal Stan-Helio, folding plates of Adirondack survey of Bald Peak and Mount Hurricane. Another large foldout of the Adirondacks as seen from Nipple Top. Another large foldout of Reconnaisannce sketch of Mount Marcy. The larger foldout maps have tears to them where they are attached to the binding, and smaller tears at the folds (no losses, all easily reinforced). Many of the smaller folding plates and the single page plates are in fine condition. There is scattered insect (silverfish) damage throughout, mostly to the pages on both sides of the large folding maps, and entirely marginal (no damage to plates or the text). Very Good. Cloth. [23601]

Ticket "Compliments of James Mackin, Member of Assembly, 1874" on front pastedown. Often broken up for it's nicely lithographed plates, here in a complete, affordable copy.
