Early full leather binding with red spine label. Previous owner stamp on verso of front flyleaf, and another name (?) inked on title page just above map. Double-page inserted leaf inserted opposite A1. Very closely trimmed, affecting a few headlines and catch words. Clearly read, with occasional smudging, creasing. The fifth edition of a well known book on proportional compasses. The title roughly translates to "The Use of a Compass in Proportion." The double-page leaf has 2 illustrations and is signed in the woodcut at top by Daniel Chorez. Two additional illustrations are found integral to the pagination (pages 105, 109) and are signed DH in the center. Each of these full page illustrations is of a proportional compass (also known as a sector or military compass).
