Pages 110-111 with dark brown stain from old newspaper insert. Unreadable embossed owner name on rear pastedown. Several pages have creases from reading turns. Light foxing throughout. The First American edition, fourth state (Freeman 380) with "New edition, revised and augmented by the author" on the title page, and a supplement (pages 426-432) of authors additions and alterations. As such, this volume actually improves on the first edition, first state, with additional information.
