Citizen Kane - Documentary Film Group

[ unknown ]: [ unknown ] c1946. 6 pages plus printed cover. Stapled. A review of the famous 1941 film by Orson Welles. Photomechanically reproduced. Very Good. Wraps. [24044]

A six page rather thorough film study review of Citizen Kane. The front page reads like an advertisement. The second page details the legal issues surrounding the film's initial release. The following pages walk through plot, photography, etc in a scholarly manner, ending with cast, and suggestions for additional reading. I would have thought the production contemporary to the film based on it's appearance, but a reference to a book published in 1946 leads me to date it circa 1946. The Documentary Film Group isn't further identified, but it was possibly "Doc Films" the long running film society at the University of Chicago who by all accounts are afficianado's to the level required for this sort of document. The only clue left behind is "Film notes by Robert B. Riley" placed unobtrusively under the references list.

A rare piece of ephemera related to a film that many call the greatest film ever made.
