Rebound in dark brown calf with new endpapers and black spine labels, gold gilt lettering and spine tooling. An ex-library set with a few perforated stamps (title pages and occasionally in the text), very occasional penciled notations, and a few minor tears. Volume 1's frontispiece is original but inserted from another copy. Vol. One: lx, 211, [1-blank], [4-index] pages. Vol. Two: [2], [1]-321, [11-index] pages. Vol. Three: vi, 231, [1-advertising.] pages. Presents nicely on the shelf. Babson 22. The first English edition of Newton's Principia was published in 1729 in 2 volumes. The first complete English translation of the Principia (including De Mindu Systemate, Newton's intended third book of the Principia) was published in 1803. We offer here the second complete edition, published in 1819, which collates 'the same except that Vol I Dedication, text, and index [were] reset ; [and] the erratum on the last page is omitted.
