Cambridge: J & J.J. Deighton 1833. Early 3/4 leather over marbled boards. Spine embossed with slightly raised bands but no gilding. "Whewell's Mechanics" title on a dark brown label which is chipped at the edges and lower corners. Shelfworn, with signficant wear to the corners. Joints, while rubbed, are sound as are the hinges. Bookplate of Dr. Sydney Ross on the front pastedown, and previous owners names on front flyleaf. Shallow piece at the top of title page missing (approximately 1/2 inch). The fourth edition. xviii, [1]-280 pages, 9 folding plates in rear (offsetting, minor soiling on a few, and several creased). Occasional marginal notation.
