A collection of 56 "practical thoughts" focused for the minister, which could easily form the basis for various talks. The last, #56, is titled Rules of Life, includes 70 rules the last being "A minister should consult his own wishes and improvement, as well as the wishes and improvement of his people."
The copyright pages states this is the seventh edition. OCLC notes only 4 editions in addition to the present example, all of which are fairly scarce. Four copies (1848), four copies (1851), 1 copy (1859), and 1 copy from (1865).
