A collection of articles that were distributed before meetings of the American Society of Civil Engineers related to the New York Tunnel Extension of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The intention was that those who could not attend could review the material (thick with diagrams, photographs, and engineering driven text) and submit mail to the Secretary of the Society. Discussions were published in the Proceedings and when completed, finally in the Transactions of the Society. This volume contains nine articles related to The New York Tunnel Extension of the Pennsylvania Railroad, here bound in one volume for convenience of reference. The spine title is “N.Y. Extension of the Penn. R.R., Vol II, Proceedings Am. Soc. C. E.” There is no indication of who compiled the material, but it was not the publishers. A fascinating view into the engineering challenges of a large project in New York over the course of several years.
