A wonderful gift book, illustrated with snow-flakes and related prose and poetry. Mr. J. F. Richardson did the lithographed plates. Louis Agassiz was shown some of the images, and sent Chickering a letter encouraging their publication, recommending the inclusion of scientific measurements and if not possible at least a statement that they were taken from Nature, not the creation of a whimsical mind. The first edition was copyrighted 1863, and did not have the author's name. Here, Mrs. Chickering's authorship has been restored.
