Originally printed in Philadelphia in 1776, Common Sense is a masterpiece of it's time. This edition (in the original wrappers) is scarce, with only two copies noted in OCLC/Worldcat as of this writing. Advertisements on rear cover. Page [32] contains a long note about Paine and this work's history. "Mr. Paine was born in England, and came to these states at the solicitation of Dr. Franklin. To aid the struggle for liberty, he wrote 'Common Sense.' The effects of this work were tremendous ; it produced the desire for, and declaration of independence. Mr. Paine took out no copyright, but gave it to the public, and every bookseller in the states was permitted to reprint it."

Perhaps published by Vale at this time due to the Mexican American War in progress.
