[ Cleveland, Ohio ]: Cleveland Commercial Photo Company circa 1923. Oblong 8vo. 11 x 8 inches (photographs 9 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches). An album containing thirty seven silver prints total of which four are duplicates, most mounted on linen backings. Secured in a two post binder with flexible black cloth/leatherette covers. "Cleveland Commercial Photo Co." embossed in front cover. Backstamps on the photograph, linen, or a signature in the negative where present are noted. Backstamp is "Cleveland Com. Photo Co | Advance Bldg. | 1514 Prospect Ave. 8. E." Signed in image negative "C.C.P.Co.". Many have numbers (inventory numbers?) in the negative as well. NOTE: it is impossible to note whether linen backed images have backstamps on the original print. Very Good. Binder. [26689]


An brief description of images follows. Unless noted images are silver prints.

In binder: Twenty nine total images. William Taylor Son & Co window display ; two hotel interiors (one signed in image); two product photographs (chair and Grand stove from Cleveland Co-Operative Stove Co); three images of B.F. Keith office building, two during construction, one completed ; two of the Hanna Building (one during construction, one completed); three images of the Bell Telephone Building on Prospect (two with backstamps during construction, one completed); two photographs of architectural plans for Central School Bldg, Mayfield Rural School district, Fulton and Taylor architects (one matt, one glossy of same image); five architectural views, three backstamped or signed in image; and nine photographs printed in brown tones of original artwork for architectural buildings (several by Ferguson, one of Euclid Plaza Hotel,several different artists - most by McDonald - and/or architects).

Laid in loosely: Eight total images. Six artistic flower images (4 w/backstamp, 4 are duplicates); children on lily-pond w/backstamp; architectural image. A portion of the company's billhead "Commercial and Architectural Photography". We find only one date in the images (1923 on one of the plans).

The company was active and advertising from as early as 1908. NYPL notes they were an American commercial photographer in the 1910s and 20s.
