Recent Practice in Marine Engineering Vol. I. (TEXT) and Vol II. (PLATES)

London and New York: Offices of Engineering, 35&36 Bedford Street, Strand, W. C. and John Wiley & Sons [ 1884 ]. Vol I: xi, 310 pages. Vol II: viii, 176 plates. Together two volumes, complete. Folio. 11 x 15 inches. 1/4 morocco over cloth boards. Previous owner names in both volumes. A previous owner added epoxy to the corners and head/tail of spines on both bindings to preserve them. While I dislike the idea, it seems to have helped with both bindings sound and just minor wear on a set usually found falling apart. Internally clean, with occasional foxing. Very Good. Cloth. [27271]

With some content reprinted from "Engineering" one of the major engineering magazines of the day, with additions. Many of the plates are double pages, spectacular in content with much marine content. Dated to circa 1884 with preface dated December of 1893. A massive set, still valuable for the engineer and historian. Additional postage may be required to ship this set.

Scarce in the marketplace, with the PLATE volume often broken for it's illustrations.
