Erfle was a well known optician who worked for the famous Zeiss works, where he developed (among other things) wide field eyepieces for binoculars and telescopes. His article here (loosely translated) is "about the deflection of a beam running outside the prism main section". Another article by C.. Pulfrich is also from the Zeiss works, "ein- und zweikreisiges kristall-goniometer mit Einrichtungen für die Untersuchung kleiner und mangelhafter kristallflachen" ("one and two-ring crystal goniometer with facilities for the investigation of small and defective crystal surfaces").
Other articles are as diverse as astronomical work (Hartmann), seismological work, etc. The volume has a few other related journal issues bound in (mostly Zeitschrift der Deutschen Gesellschaft fur Machanik und Optik).
