DISBOUND, with original boards present but textblock split into several pieces. Leather powdering. A good binding candidate. With inked "Richard W. Greene Sept 1834 Bt at auction" at head of title page. Underneath that is scratched out name. Split across the second line of the title is inked: "? dono abbotis Colin de Sevigny". Another name "Rodman G. Rathburn 1926" inked on first flyleaf in green ink. Signature of "Colin de Sevigny" on front pastedown upper left. First flyleaf verso with detailed engraving with plate mark showing nicely. Light toning and foxing throughout. A few marginal notations. Fair. Boards. [27687]


Previous owner Sevigny is probably "Mancy Colin, formerly Abbe de Sevigny and Archdeacon of Tours" (History of Bradford County 1770 - 1878 The Reverend Mr. David Craft, Chapter 7).
