Page [1] of wrapper hand colored with title "The Edgeworth Toys." and blank verso. Page [4] of wrapper with highly decorated borders and featuring advertisements for the Milner Toys in VI parts. Large corner crease front wrapper, some loss to and tearing to spine. Rear cover nice with minor rubbing and soiling. Page [1] is title page with bird vignette, verso is fullpage woodcut. Each page has a woodcut occupying at least 1/3 of the page. Although the American Antiquarian Society (AAS) notes "Frontispiece wood engraving signed by Alexander Anderson" we find no signature on any of the woodcuts in this booklet, perhaps another variant. According to the American Antiquarian Society (AAS), Merriam & Moore published in Troy, N.Y. in 1851 only; The firm was preceded and succeeded by Merriam, Moore & Co., which published in Troy between 1847 and 1858. So we're dating this to between 1847 and 1858. Lastly, AAS notes Tthat the text is adapted from Frank by Maria Edgeworth.
