Germany and New York: Palo Company circa 1925. A nice hand-held spectroscope by Palo Company. 3 1/4 inches long, 1 3/4 wide w/mirror attachment. Housed in a purple silk and velvet lined custom case marked "Palo Company New York". Top and sides of box are very clean. Bottom shows evidence of sticker removal and subsequent color toning, as well as normal edgewear. Hinges and latch in working order. The instrument is bright and clean and in working order. Knurled ring controls the slit size. Eyepiece can be extended for focus (?) extending the overall length to almost 4 inches. The mirror assembly can be moved into and out of the light path, and the small inner prism can be moved in and out of the path as well. A nice instrument! Near Fine.
We also buy and sell large spectroscopes - please get in touch if you are interested in these. Spectroscopes, especially handheld ones, are great at gatherings - let your guests peer at one light source, then show them how it changes when you show them another type with a different spectrum. Color and wows abound.
