[ artifact, microscope ] Carl Zeiss Jena 1857 Stativ II model w/glass dome

Jena: Carl Zeiss. We are proud to offer a finely made articulated working model of a Carl Zeiss Jena Model Stativ II microscope which was originally manufactured in 1857. This model is in working condition and made by Zeiss but on a smaller scale. With the wood base, it measures only 18 cm tall. The base is 8 1/2 cm in diameter. The glass globe brings the height to 20cm. The condition is excellent and the quality is what one expects from the Zeiss name.

Our consignor notes that these were available only to Zeiss distributors. The Stativ II was one of the most innovative instruments Zeiss made, an instrument which they are rightly proud of. This model example is as issued, and was not polished. The only other example we've seen was polished heavily.
