Philadelphia: James A. Moore, Printer 1877. xii, [9]-200 pages + xxvii pages (a priced catalog of sciopticon apparatus) + 68 pages "Marcy's Sciopticon Catalog". Complete, as issued. In publisher's original green cloth gilt. Front flyleaf creased with small tear. This copy was owned by Charles S Schultz who has tipped in an advertisement for an instrument by Cheney, left a manuscript note (signed CSS) noting where to look in the book for some specific content. He also signed the book on a front flyleaf and applied his stamp. There are also occasional notes and pointers. A bright copy. Very Good. Cloth. [29054]

Rather scarce, no doubt because those who collect these instruments are glad to have the catalogues found in the rear of the book. A nice ownership copy for those who appreciate the collectors of scientific apparatus.

PROVENANCE:
Nye & Company Auctioneers online auction of the Montclair’s Shultz House, also known as Evergreens on Wednesday, November 17th which included the scientific and travel library from Charles. S. Shultz, the noted 19th century financier and past president of the American Microscopical Society and the New York Microscopical Society.

Price: $200.00
