Wolcott was "an American politician and a Connecticut state militia commander during the American Revolutionary War. He served in the Connecticut General Assembly for over twenty years and was a justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1789 to 1792" (Wikipedia - see entry for more information). The Wolcotts are an important Connecticut family.

American manuscript material from the 18th century is getting increasingly difficult to come by.
