Well illustrated survey of microscopes from the mid 17th century to the end of the 19th century. Many of the microscopes pictured are from the collection of the Medical History Museum in Copenhagen, a major institution with whom the author Harald Moe was associated while researching and writing this book. While the text is in Danish, the photographs (many in color) are worth the purchase price of the book for those collecting these instruments, and looking for nice examples. We've also used online translation tools to "read" portions of interest to our own collecting/dealing activities.
A worthwhile addition to the reference shelf.
