Biddeford, ME: Laconia Company 1861. First Edition. Small 4to. 3/4 leather over maroon cloth. Spine labeling is "Cotton Waste", "II", "Laconia Co.". An invoice account copy book for Laconia Co, recording Invoices written to various companies from 1861 through 1866. Each page is pre-printed with headings "Marks", "Bales", "Description", "Pounds each Bale", "Pounds", "Price", "Amount". Each page contains holographic notations regarding that particular sale (or consignment, as a number of sheet record whom and what was consigned to various other companies for sale). A significant amount of business was done with William Dwight of Boston and H. J. Libby Co. Other names include Emerson & Co, Androscoggin Mills, Charles Staples, etc. Material was shipped by railroad and schooner. By years, there are 56 leaves for 1861; 27 leaves for 1862, none for 1863, 13 leaves for 1864, 70 for 1865, and 68 leaves for 1866. Just over 230 pages of entries. Many pages include a single transaction, some are completely full. Emerson && Co was a Paper House in Boston, MA. Affixed to the rear pastedown endpaper is a list of codes for various types of cotton waste and the contracts prices in July 2, 1866. Very Good. Hard Cover. [20117]
