The Skylark of Space

O.G. Estes Jr. Providence, Rhode Island: Hadley Publishing Company 1947. Second Edition. 303 pages. Original salmon cloth. The second edition, from 1947. Lacks the dj. Sadly given the great inscription, a very worn, loose copy. Fair. Cloth. [22557]

INSCRIBED by author Edward E. Smith to bookseller, fan, and publisher Julius Unger: 'It occurs to me that I overlooked a bet when I wrote this yarn. I went into their warlike techniques at some length; ditto their politics, religion, philosophy of life - even touched lightly upon their love-life - but at no time did I mention what their science fiction and fantasy was like, or even - perish the thought! - whether or not there were Osnomian dealers as such. And now it's too late to do anything about it. Wirra wirra! Regretfully yours - Edward E. Smith, Ph. D.' A great inscription from one of the masters to a colleague - oddly not the first we've seen between this pair, but decidedly the best inscription!
