Marie Curie was the first woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize. She was eventually awarded Nobel Prizes in both Chemistry and Physics. Her work had a profound effect in several fields. This work, a German language reprint of Curie's 1903 doctoral thesis, was first published in Paris in 1903 Gauthier-Villars. It was first printed in German in 1904, but quickly went through several "printings". The example here, marked "Zweite Unveranderte Auflage" on the title page, or second unchanged circulation, is the second of three 1904 German "printings" PMM394a (referring to the original Paris printing)
