Hyacinthe Guilleminot "... studied medicine in Paris and worked as assistant to his teacher Charles Bouchard (1837-1915) in the first radiodiagnostic experiments in Paris. Guilleminot has since been mainly interested in the young radiological discipline and physical applications to biology and medicine . He received his doctorate in 1896.

In 1907 he worked at the Physico-Biological Laboratory of the medical faculty and took over in 1911 the management of this institute. In 1908 he organized the first radiological laboratory of the Paris hospitals at the Charité in Paris. During the First World War Guilleminot worked in the medical service of the French army , organized in Bordeaux an electro-radiological treatment center, took care of radiological laboratories and developed prostheses for war wounded. From 1918 he taught biological physics and was admitted in 1920 as Professeur agrégé at the medical faculty.

Guilleminot also ran the electro- radiological laboratory at Hôtel-Dieu Hospital, was President of the Society of Radiology and Electrotherapy and co-founder of the Journal de Radiologie , Knight of the Legion of Honor ...1905 appeared his main work Traité d'électricité médicale , which was published in 1922 in third edition. He studied the effects of radioactivity on plant growth and showed that biochemical effects are proportional to the absorbed radiation dose .

Guilleminot dealt with radiotherapeutic and radiometric issues (1910), described an oscillometric backpressure sphygmomanometer (1917) and published scientific-philosophical works." (French wiki)

This title deals with the theory and application of electricity in medicine, with some basics of measurement and use, and later with more specific applications. A large portion is devoted to the human eye, principles of refraction, and instruments like the spectrometer and polarimeter. The last chapter deals with the rays discovered by Roentgen in 1896.
