Early inked gift inscription "Anna Dodge to Lavinia" with Lavinia's bookplate laid in dated 1925. Four leaves a bit short on the bottom edge (publisher's error) with no loss. A few bubbles in the cloth (original glue not adhered). Otherwise a nice copy. With booksellers ticket "G.M. Whipple and A.A. Smith, 243 Essex St, Salem." on rear pastedown. Endpapers browned and fragile (poor publisher's paper choice). The balance of the book is nice. Very Good. Cloth. [16302]
One of the Little Anna Stories. An earlier edition was published in 1867 with date at base of title page and copyright page, portrait frontis, simpler spine panel, and embossed emblem on top board. The spine panel here is highly decorative, perhaps for a Series?
