The Egyptian Journal of Chemistry (Egypt. J. Chem.) Volume I Number 1

Cairo: Chemical Society of Egypt 1958. First Edition. [6], 164 pages. Original green wrappers. Small spine panel "flap" loose. Corners turned, light fading to covers. Good. Wraps. [23884]

We offer the first issue of this Journal, which was published twice a year in 1958-59, continued in 1960 as "Journal of chemistry of the U.A.R.", and quarterly from 1961-1969 as "Journal of chemistry of the United Arab Republic." It continued from 1970-71 bimonthly (every 2 months) as "United Arab Republic journal of chemistry" and finally as the "Egyptian journal of chemistry" from 1972 until the present. It is worthwhile bibliographically to note that in this first issue the terminologies are laid out for names, abbreviations, and guidelines for how to submit material. Perhaps most interesting for collectors is a note that each author is "entitled to 20 reprints, without covers, free of charge. Additional reprints may be purchased, and must be ordered as soon as the paper has been accepted for publication." Presumably this allowed for printing of all reprints (offprints) at one time. (frequency and title transitions from OCLC).
