1) vii, 144 pages + VII plates.. Chemical Manipulations by Wissner. 1883
2) iv, 40 pages. Instruction in Photography by Major Lorenzo Lorain. 1882. Very Good. Cloth. [24041]

Two unusual titles, both scarce, with OCLC showing only four physical copies of each title as of this writing.

"Chemical Manipulations" is intended as a manual for use in the laboratory, and covers much ground, containing a brief summary of the Principles of Chemistry and Chemical Analysis, and part II contains the Special Analyses prescribed in the Programme of Instruction.

"Instruction in photography" reviews various processes (both theoretical and practical) and contains useful "short examples" where there is a stated problem with printing for instance, and possible reasons and solutions are presented.

As with many military manuals, these are focused on practical considerations for the military rather than theory accessible only to the elite.
