White was Professor in the New York Medical College for Women. This book was very popular, and went through a number of printings (at least 1869, 1872, 1873, 1877, 1878, 1880, 1882, 1888, and 1892). It was designed for both students and "professional friends". With 13 pages of publisher advertisements in rear. While only a handful of institutional copies of each appear, oddly there appears to be a number of printings on the market at this instant.
