The Leica System ... key to perfect pictures [ Leica Dealer Catalog ]
New York: E. Leitz, Inc. 1960. First Edition. Various pagination. Original Leica binder with "Leica" embossed on front in silver, with red faux leather thick paper covers. Multi-ring metal binder containing 10 tabs, each with information about Leica products (mostly cameras and related equipment). Dated "Jan 1, 1960". Tabs include Cameras and Lenses (A1-A16 plus blue extra pages noting pricing inserted), Accessories (B1-B28), Close-up (C1-C18), Darkroom (D1-D10), Projectors (E1-E16), Flash (F1-F13), Index (indexes catalog number to page number), and new for this year's catalog, "Leica Dealer" with Dealer Aid tab (J1-J14). There are two tabs with no content. There are additional inserts outside the pagination (as in the blue extras in tab A) in some of the other tabs as well. Mild basement smell, no active mold seen. Near Fine / Good. Comb.
While user level documentation and even books about Leica camera systems are available, Dealer Catalogs are far more difficult to find. They were kept behind the counter, used just by sales persons in authorized dealers, and were often discarded as new lines came out. An excellent snapshot both into the retailing of cameras in 1960, and specifically about the Leica line.
