"Recent adjustments of the atomic constants show a serious discrepancy between the adjusted value of lambda /sub g// lambda /sub s/ (the conversion factor from the Siegbahn x-ray scale to absolute units) and the accepted average of the direct experimental results by ruled grating measurements. As an attempt to resolve this discrepancy, a general survey of the atomic constants was made. Much information which is chiefly of historical interest was included. An attempt is made to reevaluate errors wherever this appeared necessary and to choose the most reliable experiments for inclusion in the present adjustment." (from the abstract)
