The preface notes this work is derived mostly from a series of articles published in The Delineator. It is focused on self help measures that allows a woman to "maximize" the positive effect of her beauty with practical accessible tools. The "one hundred and thirty-four illustrations from photographs taken under the personal supervision of the author" illustrate various exercises including working on the complexion, arm massage, bodily symmetry, hair combing, binding the ears to the head, and many other activities.

More than half the book is devoted to the face and head. One section is on the use and abuse of cosmetics, others on obesity, physical culture, dress, and the Spirit and the Body round out the topics. It would be fascinating to read this and compare it to the messages popular media throws at us constantly.

Female author Murray is a Member of the NY State Medical Society, the Academy of Medicine, the New York County Medical Society, the New York Neurological Society, the Women's Medical Assocation, an Adjunct Professor in Women's Diseases, etc etc.
