Text is: "Christmas Announcement. A.M. Thayer & Son wish to say to the people of Duxbury and adjoining towns that they have a variety of useful and ornamental presents for both, old and young, that they will sell for prices to correspond with the times. Besides our full line of Christmas Goods, we shall sell for the next ten days, Continental Brown Sheeting, one yard wide, 6 1-2cts per yard. A standard maker never before sold for that money. We are selling Men's kip books for 1.97, pr. which is a bargain. Give us a call and we will be please to show you our goods. Signed at bottom A. M. Thayer & Son, High St., W. Duxbury.

Albert M Thayer, a civil war veteran, in 1881 located in West Duxbury and established the firm of A. M. Thayer & Son. "This concern does a large and profitable business, dealing in dry goods, clothing, small wares, boots, shoes, furniture, carpets, paper hangings. etc. ; and, as their patronage extends over a wide circuit they have developed an extensive trade, which their honorable business methods enable them to steadily maintain." (Biographical Review, Vol XVIII, Part 2, Boston: Biographical Review Publishing co, 1897).

While undated, we find that Christmas broadsides are harder to find than other "sale" broadsides due to their temporal design. No indication of a printer.
