Title in English: "The Physics Instruments of the Tuscan Technical Institute OPTICS." An excellent reference work, one of several about the collection. The author, Paulo Brenni, was a major contributor to the history of scientific instruments and left us far too soon.
"La Fondazione Scienza e Technica e stata costituita nel 1986 con l'intento di conservare e valorizzare il patromonio scientifico e tecenologico del-l'Istituto Tecnico per Geometri "G Salvemini" di Firenze, nato nel 1853 com Instituto Tecnico Toscano per volere del grandurca Leopoldo H. Questo Istituto, che avrebbe dovuto favorire lo sviluppo industirale dell Toscana, venne dotato di imponenti e preziose collezioni tecnologische, naturalistiche e merceologische che, fortunatemente, ei sono pervenute quasi intatte. Essa rappresentatno oggi una testimonianza importatissima nella storial dell'insegnatmento tecnico e scientifico in Italia tra Ottocento e Novecento." (front flap) translates as "The Science and Technology Foundation was established in 1986 with the aim of preserving and enhancing the scientific and technological heritage of the "G Salvemini" Technical Institute for Surveyors in Florence, born in 1853 as the Tuscan Technical Institute at the behest of the Grand Turks Leopoldo H. This Institute, which should have favored the industrial development of Tuscany, was endowed with imposing and precious technological, naturalistic and commodity collections which, fortunately, have come down almost intact. Today it represents a very important testimony in the history of technical and scientific teaching in Italy between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries."
