Over 600 illustrations, many of scientific instruments or apparatus used in demonstration of the concepts described. A fascinating view into the thoughts of the times. A translation of the work from the French edition by Amedee conducted mostly by Mr. Colman Starling and Professor R. Mullineux Walmsley. The editor Thompson revised and rewrote the chapters on Dynamo-electric machines and the Telephone "in accordance with modern knowledge."
