Virginia Electric Power Company Master Plan Consolidated Office Facilities

[no place of publication stated]: Francisco & Jacobus [circa 1971]. Not paginated. 15 x 12 inches in a slipcase that is one inch wide. A proposal for construction of a new company headquarters at Cary, Canal, 7th and 8th Streets in Richmond VA. Includes a detailed analysis of space in 1971, needs a few years later, with projections into the future, and large photographic plates with overall design views. Spotting to the card covers (old moisture, no smell). A number of the large photographic plates have come unglued from their backings. But it appears complete as intended. Good. Cardboard covers. No copies in OCLC. An interesting view in the 1970s into what space was being allocated for in a high rise. Virginia Electric Power Company (VEPCO) became a subsidiary of Dominion Electric. Dominion in the late 1970s did build a new headquarters in this area - it was imploded in 2020.

A note in the binder thanks VEPCO for answering all of the architecture firm's questions, so we think this might have been used as a show and tell piece by the architects. By today's standards the building layout block diagrams are pretty basic - but the analysis by area of the space requirements and the artist renderings of the proposed building (very modern for the time) would have made a nice presentation piece.
