We offer the typewriter carbon for the MIT Flying Club Constitution. The club was founded in 1927 and incorporated in 1928. An example of the Club letterhead acquired at the same time [included] lists Frederic Celler, the first President of the Club, who served until Dec. 5, 1928. The first collegiate flying club was founded at Columbia in 1919, and the first intercollegiate flying meet was held in 1920. In 1928, the National Intercollegiate Flying Association was founded with 10 schools participating. It is not surprising that MIT joined in given it's technical prowess. While not quite the dawn of flying (1914) enough enthusiasm to found a club on a college campus this early shows the speed with which the excitement of flying spread.
The only example of the Constitution we have found is in the MIT archives.
