London: R & J Beck Ltd. (1903). We are pleased to offer a nice microscope in it's box. Made by R & J Beck Ltd. London with serial number 25504. In fitted case 11 x 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches. The instrument is almost 12 inches fully extended.

One eyepiece (marked 2 x8), two objectives in lacquered cannisters (newer 4mm 1/6 and period 16mm 2/3). Excellent lacquer. R&J Beck double nosepiece. Two sided substage mirror with some oxidizing (as normal). Two stage clips with some minor corrosion. In a fitted case (cannister holes are snug from shrinkage. A few dings to the rack but functions well, if stiff. Left gross focus knob sometimes comes loose with use. 4mm cannister damaged with cracks on both sides. Very nice look. We have not tested the optics on this instrument.

Manufactured in 1903 according to information provided by Bracegirdle who notes "The company was one of the most important in the British microscope industry. It became R&J Beck Ltd in 1894."
